Brookridge West
Brooksville
Brooksville is surrounded by the Withlacoochee River, go hiking in the wilderness on one of the many nature trails, or picnic alongside the freshwater lakes.
The Withlacoochee River got its name from the Indians, which means "long and winding river." This magnificent river, unlike other spring-fed rivers, is a brackish brown color coming from the tannic acid produced by the cypress trees along its bank.
Just outside Brooksville, the mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs have been performing amazing underwater feats in the world's only underwater artesian spring theater. Here you can watch their newest production "The Little Mermaid" which is based on Hans Christian Anderson's classic novel. Watch the Exotic Bird Show featuring untamed eagles, hawks, owls, trained macaws, and cockatoos, or take the Wilderness River Cruise down the enchanting Weeki Wachee River of crystal clear, spring fed waters.
