New Port Richey
The Pithlachascotee River, nicknamed the "Cotee River," flows directly through the heart of New Port Richey. The Cotee River is one of the deepest rivers on Florida's Big Bend. The river, along with the Gulf of Mexico and numerous lakes that abound the area, make fishing and water sports a favorite pastime. The river is one of 36 designated by the Department of Natural Resources as an official canoe trail. The trail down this waterway is laced with tight curves so experienced canoeist are recommended.
If its deep water you are looking for, direct access to the Gulf of Mexico provides a variety of sport fishing opportunities. Several charter boats can take you on a days excursion for grouper, sail, marlin, and shark fishing. For those of you who like gambling, take a ride on the Vegas-style casino boats.
