Riverside Club
Ruskin
Ruskin is a bedroom community of Tampa. It was founded in 1906 as a "cooperative community" and lies at the southeastern shore of Tampa Bay. Because it has a protected harbor, it is an ideal port for both commercial and cruise ships.
The annual Ruskin Tomato & Heritage Festival is held in May. It is a celebration of the town's agricultural heritage. The Farmer's Market Ruskin Tomato Queen will be in attendance. You will enjoy the antique tractor and classic car shows.
If you have not yet, this is the perfect place to experience "Fried Green Tomatoes."
Be sure to attend the Ruskin Seafood and Arts Festival held each November along the beaches of Tampa Bay. Here you can sample great seafood while listening to live entertainment and browsing through the fine arts and craft displays.
Cockroach Key is a small island that lies about 3 miles west of Ruskin in Tampa Bay. This island was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is 600 feet long, 200 feet wide, and 35 feet high. It is formed entirely of shells and midden deposits left by the Indians. It contains an Indian burial mound 50 feet by 70 feet.
